Celta suffers a defeat against Villarreal by 2-3


Celta earned three points on Saturday in victory against Villarreal.

Celta were 2-3 victors on Saturday in their away game at Estadio de la Cerámica, despite this victory Celta remains in eleventh position. Villarreal went into the game following a loss in their last match while the visitors had won theirs. With this defeat, Villarreal sits at the seventeenth position, while Celta remains eleventh.

The visitante team took the lead thanks to a goal by Brais Méndez in minute 44 and the first half ended 0 to 1.

After the break, Celta widened the gap with a goal by Yokuşlu in minute 49. Celta extended their lead yet again with a goal by Gómez in the 51. Villarreal closed the gap through Bacca with a goal .The locals managed to close the gap yet again in 87 with a goal by Bacca however, it was not enough to equalize, and the match ended 2-3.

The coaches from both sides employed all their substitutions. The home team, introduced Toko Ekambi, Bacca and Funes Mori for Trigueros, Chukwueze and Pedraza, while the visiting team substituted Boufal, Brais Méndez and Jozabed with Hjulsager, Beltrán and Cabral.

The referee issued six yellow cards, booking Cáseres, Álvaro and Mario Gaspar of Villarreal along with Yokuşlu, Gómez and Rubén from the visiting side.

Celta sits at the eleventh position with 20 points, and the team managed by Luis García Plaza claims the seventeenth position with 14 points.

On the next match, Villarreal will play against Huesca in away and Celta will challenge Leganés in home.
