Atlético de Madrid 3-0 Alavés


Alavés saw three points slip away at Wanda Metropolitano.

Atlético de Madrid played and won 3-0 against Atlético de Madrid in front of their own fans on Saturday. Before kick off, the home team had gained 9 out of a possible 15 points in their last fixtures, while the visitors had draw their most recent game. With this result, Atlético de Madrid and Alavés are now joint third in the table. Alavés and Atlético de Madrid are now joint fifth in the table.

The local team took the lead thanks to a goal by Kalinić in minute 25 and the first half ended 1 to 0.

After the break, Atlético de Madrid widened the gap with a goal by Griezmann in minute 82.The locals widened the gap and sealed the match thanks to a goal by Rodrigo in minute 87, and the game ended 3-0.

Both sides employed all three substitutions. Giménez, Vitolo and Montero came on for Atlético de Madrid replacing Lucas Hernández, Kalinić and Lemar, while Alavés brought on Borja Bastón, Burgui and Rubén Sobrino for Wakaso, Ibai Gómez and Aguirregabiria.

The referee dished out nine players with the yellow card. He showed five yellow cards ( Kalinić, Correa, Arias, Thomas and Montero ) to Atlético de Madrid and four ( Calleri, Pina, Ximo Navarro and Laguardia ) to Alavés.

With these three points, Atlético de Madrid claims the third position with 28 points, while the team manage by Abelardo Fernández are fifth with 24 points.

On the following day, Alavés will take on Athletic, while Atlético de Madrid will confront Real Valladolid.
